MINIATURIST GROUP:    Gill Kilby
      Bedford U3A Miniatures Group
The Miniaturist group was started in January 2008, we now have 6 enthusiastic members, we meet once a month for a couple of hours and enjoy a very informal and interesting get together.
We discovered that we are not just in to dolls houses, we make dolls of various sizes, one lady has built her own house and also makes wooden puzzles, another lady has several houses, all set in different eras. We have a gentleman who is planning to make a model aircraft. He is also quite an engineer, so we keep him very busy. He and his wife own a beautiful model house made by an Italian Prisoner of War, which they have renovated and they are now building a garden. Our newest member has a teashop and is just starting a house. Some models are modern, some historic, so research helps us get the authenticity we want to attain.
We Exhibited our Victorian Market Stall at the AGM on the 21st of October. Many members were very interested in what we have created.  We’ve now completed another Group Project for the  2009 AGM This is shown above: the Allotment
If you are not already enjoying the fascinating hobby of creating a project in miniature you will be amazed at the scope it offers: Dolls Houses, Churches, Shops, Garden and Sheds, a Zoo, Farmyards, Model Forts, Wooden Toys, Model Railways, Ships, Aircraft... to name a few. We can all learn by sharing our interest and experiences.

Whether you chose to work in 1/12th, 1/16th, or 1/24th or 1/100 scale it matters not.  If you are interested please contact Gill Kilby:  01234 365310
