Christmas at Chatsworth is a special experience for children and adults alike, with beautiful traditional decorations in the grand rooms on the two lower floors of the house. In 2009, the inspiration is candlelight, and specifically the intriguing tales by Hans Christian Andersen, including his tale The Candle, that have brought joy to children around the world. Some of the enchanting displays are interpreted by local schoolchildren and there will once again be Christmas trees dressed by the Duchess and her grandchildren. Many visitors come from far and wide every year to see the Christmas decorations and this promises to be another year not to be missed. With live music every weekend, and musicians and entertainers adding to the festive atmosphere throughout the season, Christmas is a magical time to visit.

There is a good cafeteria . 36 members have booked a Christmas meal with wine for £16 . There are 66 of us going and the house tours are timed for 1.15 and 1.45
